Your Shul

Your shul is here for you to feel part of our community and to be able to feel maximum fulfillment as a member of an Orthodox Jewish Synagogue. Here are some of the benefits of being a member of Highams Park & Chingford Synagogue.

Prayer

We can pray to G-d in any language, however, Hebrew is the ideal language to make that ultimate connection. In our shul, we use the Singers Prayer Siddur (book) which has Hebrew on one side and English on the other. During the service, page numbers are announced reglarly to give the congregation maximum opportunity to participate.

Shul 'Mini Events'

To be elaborated further in the 'Events' page, we hold mini events as part of our Shabbos morning services in order to help create some variety as well as education in our Shul. We also use these opportunities to have special Kiddushim held after the service.

'Main Events'

Main Events at Highams Park and Chingford include our Annual Quiz, A Pesach Communal Seder, Shabbatons and the Purim/ Chanukah parties.

The US

A member of Highams Park & Chingford is automatically part of the United Synagogue family. The United Synagogue is the largest synagogue movement in Europe. It comprises 62 local communities supported by a central office. Please feel free to browse here, for a full understanding of US membership as well as a whole host of useful Jewish links and information.

Support Services

Our community has a Welfare Officer who is available for any welfare related issues. Obviously our Rabbi can also be contacted. Hospital visits where (G-d forbid) applicable are the norm, and home visits can be arranged. We also have facilities to help members for Kosher meat delivery and similar.

Burial

Burial plot membership at a US Burial ground is an automatic enrolment as part of membership to Highams Park & Chingford Synagogue. Further information in this respect is available here via the US website. Although it may be possible to be a member only without Burial.
