Shul Services

The main and central focus of our community are the services (aka the Davaning) that take place in our shul. This is what drives everything that is our community and is the spiritual core of our existence.

Shabbos morning - 9:15AM

Our Shabbos Services are as follows: The Friday Evening Service and the Shabbos Morning Service (the Friday Service is only on the first of the month).

On Fridays in the evening we bring in Shabbos with a lively service that lasts about 45 minutes. This is followed by a ‘Mini Kiddush’. On the first week of every month we have our Family Friday Night Service – a more family friendly service, encouraging more attendance of couples together with the kids. This service is followed by a special Kiddush in the hall.

On Shabbos morning we have a busy but friendly service which includes the Weekly Torah reading (aka the Leining) and the Prayers for the Royal Family & Israel. The service is followed by a full Kiddush in the hall.

Festival Services

Our ‘festival services’ include Succos, Pesach and Shevuohs – aka the ‘Foot Festivals’ (Rosh Hashonoh and Yom Kippur are in the High Holidays section). These festivals have services that are similar to Shabbos services with some variations according to the Yom Tov’s particular theme. All the Yom Tov’s always include a Yizkor service (similar to Yom Kippur). As a very general overview, the theme of these festivals commemorate the exodus from Egypt culminating with the Jews receiving of the 10 Commandments at Mount Sinai. Annually we host a communal Seder with 50 -100 attending. Watch this space for our next Seder in 2019!

High Holidays

In late April we are launching a Brand New tri - series event that aims to make all feel 'at home' with shul services.

Chanukah and Purim usually fall during the months of December & March respectively, when we celebrate miraculous events that took place to our ancestors during these times.

While the festivals are there for all to partake in the services, over recent years, our community has made specific focus on the kids of the community, with special activities geared towards those days that particularly engage the kids.

Additionally, on the Shabbos before/ after Chanukah and Purim we make a special themed kiddush celebrating the Festival.

As in most communities, these days are the highlight of our Jewish calendar year, and really kick-start the Jewish New Year in a very positive and serious way.

Our Largest crowds by far come Rosh Hashanah to hear the shofer blasts and on Yom Kippur for the Kol Nidrei Service, to Fast together and partake in the Yizkor service. Watch this space for further info regarding our 2018 High Holiday Services.
